The Human Condition
It's obvious that we live in a world in which good things and bad things happen.
But how did this come about?
In Genesis 1 we read the account of the creation of the Universe and the earth and all that is in it.
"And God saw that it was good."
"Then God said, "Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds if the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth" So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Then God blessed them, and God said to them , "Be fruitfull and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea.....and over every living thing that moves on the earth..... Then God saw everything that He made, and indeed is was very Good. (NKJV)
Here we must consider what is the Image and likeness of God.
John reveals that "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and Truth."
This being true we must note that we were originally created in and as spirit. male and female spirit beings.
Returning to Genesis, in chapter 2 we read of the creation of physical bodies for these male and female spirit beings, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." What a wonderfully intimate image as God breathed His life into these Spirit in flesh beings He has created. And so it is that John reveals for us that God is Love. This is a Loving Act of Creation Spirit to spirit breathing life into a body of flesh in which to live. We then read that they wandered in the Garden God had created, with God, in fellowship, relationship, and communion. Learning the wisdom of the designer asnd creator in order that they may rise up to having full and loving dominion over the earth.
In Genesis 3 we read of a choice these humans are given, to obey the love of God or the wisdom of their own minds. This is a choice to follow the spirit or the flesh component of their being. They are designed for the spirit to be the dominant part of their being so they might continue their relationship with God who is Spirit, but they choose to allow the flesh and their choice to have dominion. And so we read that they "hid themselves from te presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden." "Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?" So he said, "I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself." and He said,"Who told you that you were naked?"
Adam was afraid and hid because he knew that nothing can be hiodden from God but he was ashamed and was now focussed on his flesh now dominant in his being, and his spirit had become subservient. And the blame shifting begins as they each try to blame other forces for their poor decisions and the natural consequences of their broken relationship with God are spelled out. The beings designed to rule majestically from the spirit are now unable to access the knowledge and wisdom of the craetor and so their dominion ovefr the earth is tainted by selfishness and the iinterests of their flesh.
Eden translated means the Dwelling place of God, the presence of God. Now they were disconnected from the presence of God and they wandered the earth alone and without His counsel and purpose.
The disconnect from God leaves us with two unfulfilled drivers, the physical need for connection with others and the soul connection with the area of the spirit. This disconnect from God is what is called Sin. This disconnect (Sin) results in connections with wrong and harmful spirits and people, and self destructive behaviours and habits. These are the symptoms of Sin, and the cause needs to be treated.
